Upon completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Employ the current science on the relationship between weight and health
  • Understand the principles of healthy weight management and how they differ from weight loss strategies
  • Learn various tactics that your clinic can use to address healthy weight management in your patient population.

Presented By:

Helen Bellanca, MD, MPH
Associate Medical Director
HealthShare of Oregon

Dr. Bellanca is a family physician who has worked in Federally Qualified Health Centers in Oregon for 16 years.  In 2004 she and her colleagues at La Clinica del Carino Family Health (now called One Community Health) in Hood River were awarded a 3-yr grant from the Federal Office of Minority Health to address obesity in the Hispanic Farmworker population.  They developed two clinical strategies and 2 community strategies, and learned a great deal from the people of the community about how to approach this difficult issue.  She has remained engaged with the science of weight and health since that time, and has continued to develop experience and expertise from other clinical systems. Dr. Bellanca is now the Associate Medical Director for Health Share of Oregon, the state’s largest CCO.
